Udupi, Apr 25, 2026: A 25-year-old rowdy-sheeter, Mohammed Alfaz, under the jurisdiction of Byndoor Police Station, has been detained under the Goonda Act. The detention was carried out following an order issued by the Udupi District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner on Friday, April 24.
Alfaz is a resident of Janata Colony near Arehole Cross in Kirimanjeshwara village of Byndoor taluk and was also residing near Ram Mandir on Siddhanayaka Road in Kundapur town.
According to police, Alfaz is an active member of the notorious “Garuda Gang” and has been involved in several criminal activities across Udupi district and the neighboring Uttara Kannada district.
Cases have been registered against him in several police stations, including Shirva, Gangolli, Byndoor, Udupi Town, Kundapur Rural, Kundapur Town, and Bhatkal Town.
A total of 10 cases have been filed against him, including two attempted murder cases, one robbery, one attempted robbery, one assault, two cases of unlawful assembly, one kidnapping case, and one case under the NDPS Act related to drug trafficking.
Among these, Alfaz has been acquitted in one case, while eight cases are currently under trial and one case is under investigation. The detention order was issued based on a detailed report submitted by the Udupi Superintendent of Police. Following the order, the accused has been lodged in Shivamogga Central Prison.
