Udupi, Nov 25, 2025: A potential tragedy was averted at Madgaon railway station on Sunday, November 23, when a passenger attempting to alight from a moving train slipped and fell into the gap between the train and the platform.
The incident occurred around 7 pm as train number 20112 Konkan Kanya Express was departing from Platform No. 1. RPF Constable Kapil Saini and Head Constable R.S. Bhai, who were on duty at the platform, reacted swiftly and pulled the passenger to safety, preventing a major accident.
Recognising their prompt and courageous action, Konkan Railway Chairman and Managing Director Santosh Kumar Jha announced a reward of Rs 10,000 each for the two RPF personnel. The rescued passenger expressed gratitude for the timely assistance.
Konkan Railway authorities have once again urged passengers not to board or alight from moving trains, stressing that such actions pose serious risks to life and safety. With passenger safety being a top priority, the railway has instructed everyone to strictly follow safety guidelines.
