Mangaluru, May 18, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of rough sea conditions along the coastal region and advised fishermen not to venture into the sea due to the possibility of strong waves and gusty winds.
Rainfall has been reported in several parts of Coastal Karnataka, parts of South Interior Karnataka, and isolated places in North Interior Karnataka. Mulki in Dakshina Kannada district recorded the highest rainfall of 7 cm. Haveri received 5 cm rainfall, while Moodbidri, Shivamogga, Hunchadakatte, and Kottigehara recorded 4 cm each. Uppinangady, Puttur, Sullia, Sringeri, and Bhagamandala received 3 cm rainfall each.

According to the weather department, strong winds and high waves are likely to intensify over the coastal sea regions today and tomorrow. In view of this, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
