Udupi: Man dies of electrocution while plucking mangoes

Udupi, Apr 24, 2026: A 55-year-old man died after accidentally coming into contact with a live electric wire while plucking mangoes behind the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Manipal on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sadananda Devadiga, a resident of Alevoor, who was working as a village assistant.

According to reports, the incident occurred while he was plucking mangoes from a tree. During the process, he accidentally touched a live electric wire and was fatally electrocuted.

Fire and emergency service personnel rushed to the spot and assisted in shifting the body. Social worker Nithyananda Volakadu also extended support at the scene.

A case has been registered at the Manipal police station.
