Udupi: Fifth accused held in naval ship Information leak case

Udupi, Feb 18, 2026: Police have arrested a fifth accused in a case registered at the Malpe Police Station for allegedly leaking confidential information related to naval ships.

The arrested individual has been identified as Alif Islam (21), son of the late Ijazul Islam. A native of Bargariya village in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, he was residing in a rented house at Kokilakatta in Marayu village, Munnar, Kerala.

Police took him into custody on February 16, 2026. He was produced before the jurisdictional court on February 17 and remanded to judicial custody till February 21, 2026.

According to police sources, the accused is suspected to be a national of Bangladesh. As the investigation is ongoing, additional legal provisions are likely to be invoked in due course.
