About the UFC
The UFC, which functions under the motto “For the Love of God,” has a presence all over the country and the world. It has 128 convents with 1,100 members across 33 dioceses and runs educational, vocational, and social centres such as schools, hospitals, old age homes, and orphanages.
Urban Stein SJ (1845 – 88), the first resident vicar of Rosario Cathedral, motivated some young women to help the poor people in Bunder. The group went under the name of “Company of St. Ursula” in honor of St. Ursula, a martyr who lived in Cologne in Germany. Later, they also received the title “Angels of Bunder” for the good work they did for the poor people in Bunder.
The group officially became a congregation on May 13, 1934, after which it was called “Catechist Sisters of St. Ursula.
