Tight Security in Puttur Ahead of ‘Puttur Chalo’ Rally

Mangaluru, August 30, 2026: Dakshina Kannada Police have stepped up security in Puttur ahead of the ‘Puttur Chalo’ awareness rally organised by right-wing groups on Monday, following a recent dispute at a digital service centre in Darbe.

The altercation, reportedly over a document damaged during lamination due to a technical error, led to cases being registered at Puttur Town Police Station. Subsequently, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagaran Vedike announced the rally.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Arun K said conditional permission has been granted for the programme. Police conducted a route march in Puttur on Sunday as part of security preparations.

The security deployment includes seven platoons of District Armed Reserve Police, five platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police, two Special Action Force (SAF) teams, 139 police personnel, 14 ASIs, 10 PSIs, three PIs, one DySP and an Additional SP.
