Bengaluru, Oct 23, 2026: Magadi Road police have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly murdering his wife by smashing her head with a stone and dumping her body in a stormwater drain, reportedly over suspicions of an extramarital affair.
The accused, Mohammed Irfaz, a native of Bihar, allegedly killed his wife, Ruksana, 25, on October 10 and dumped her body in a stormwater drain on Magadi Road. The body was discovered on October 13.
Irfaz and Ruksana, both natives of Bihar, had met while selling balloons in their home state about two years ago. They fell in love and got married. Around six months ago, the couple moved to a rented house in Gopalapura on Magadi Road in Bengaluru. Both were employed at a garment factory.
According to police, Irfaz suspected that Ruksana was having an extramarital relationship because she frequently spoke to someone over the phone. This reportedly led to frequent arguments between the couple.
On October 10, an argument escalated, during which Irfaz allegedly assaulted Ruksana, leaving her unconscious. He then allegedly struck her on the head with a stone, killing her, before fleeing the scene.
Wife Had Been Married Earlier
The investigation revealed that Ruksana had been married previously and had a child. She had separated from her first husband due to family-related issues before falling in love with Irfaz in Bihar. The couple subsequently married and moved to Bengaluru.
Police found that Ruksana had not disclosed her previous marriage to Irfaz.
Body Transported on Stolen Two-Wheeler
After the alleged murder, Irfaz reportedly stuffed a piece of cloth into Ruksana’s mouth and placed her body inside a plastic bag. He then allegedly stole a two-wheeler from near their house, transported the body and dumped it in the stormwater drain.
When the body was discovered on October 13, police initially struggled to establish the victim’s identity.
Door-to-Door Police Inquiry Leads to Arrest
A special team was formed to investigate the case. As part of a door-to-door initiative, police personnel visited houses in Gopalapura and questioned residents.
During the inquiry, a local resident reported that his wife had been missing for several days. He allegedly told police that Irfaz had claimed Ruksana had gone to her native place in Bihar.
When questioned, Irfaz reportedly maintained that he had sent his wife to Bihar. However, when police asked for her mobile phone number, he claimed that she did not use a mobile phone.
Growing suspicious, police took him to the station for further questioning. During interrogation, Irfaz allegedly confessed to the murder, police said.
