The city, illuminated with festive lights, wore a vibrant celebratory look as residents and visitors thronged the streets to witness the grand procession and seek the blessings of Goddess Chamundeshwari.

The district administration had enforced strict entry regulations at the Mysuru Palace, allowing entry only to those holding golden cards, tickets or passes and adhering to the timings specified on them. People began arriving at the venue as early as 9.30 am.

Abhimanyu, who carried the golden howdah for six consecutive years, received loud applause from the crowds as he led the procession as the Nishane elephant.

With police restricting entry at several locations, some visitors from Mandya district and the taluks of Mysuru parked their vehicles along KRS Road.

“We will walk from here to KR Circle to watch the procession. Hope we will get a chance to have a glimpse of Goddess Chamundeshwari,” said Mahesha, a resident of Palahalli.
