Thunder Showers Bring Relief from Heat in Coastal Districts

Mangaluru, March 29, 2026: Rain accompanied by lightning and thunder lashed several parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, including Mangaluru and Udupi cities, on Saturday evening, providing much-needed relief from the intense summer heat.

While rural areas of Dakshina Kannada, such as Beltangady and Bantwal, had received intermittent rainfall over the past few days, Mangaluru city continued to reel under severe heat conditions. The situation changed on Saturday evening as cloudy skies gave way to thunder, lightning, and showers across the city.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at one or two places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts over the next three days, until March 31.
