The trio along with other friends from Bangalore was on a trip to Murudeshwar through Madikeri and Mangalore.

On Sunday, seven of them played volleyball at the beach before entering the sea for a swim. Tejas was swept away by the current while Vivek, Dininraj, and Deepak jumped in to save him. Although a rescue team managed to save Deepak, the other three were swept away.

The search is being led by DSP M. Narayan, the coastal security police, and the navy.

The sea at Murudeshwar is dangerous because of the monsoons and the presence of sharks.

Dileep Kumar, Nithin Shridhar, and Dhanush are the others in the group.
