State government will continue developmental activities - Palemar

Mangalore, Aug 15, 2011  :  District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar said at his 65th Independence Day address that the district administration and the state government had worked hard for the development of the state for 3 years and two months and will continue with their developmental programmes. The district administration had organized Independence Day celebrations at Nehru Maidan on the morning of Aug 15 Monday.

Just before delivering the Independence Day address, the district-in-charge minister had hoisted the national flag in the presence of prominent personalities and inspected the guard of honor in an open vehicle.

Eighteen teams comprising Reserve Police, District Armed Reserve (DAR) police, civil, traffic, Coast Guard, Home Guard, guides, scouts, NCC Naval senior and junior, NCC Army senior and junior, Bharat Seva Dal boys and girls team, police band, Shri Satya Sai Bank of Alike, and many students participated in the Independence Day parade.

Palemar also assured the people of DK that the state government will implement all proposed developmental and welfare schemes at the earliest possible. Speaking about the developmental projects undertaken in DK during the last three years, the minister said that the state government has given loans to farmers and weavers at the rate of 10 percent. It has also given free electricity for agricultural purposes. Small scale farmers were given the amount of Rs. 1000 for the development of unfertile land.

Palemar also said that more than Rs. 1,126 crore has been spent on the development of DK. Rs. 47.51 crore have been spent on solving drinking water problems in rural areas and Rs. 26.06 crore have been earmarked for constructing roads in rural areas and Rs. 137.59 crore have road construction.

DC Chennappa Gowda, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police Labu Ram, Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat, and other prominent personalities of Mangalore participated in the Independence Day program.

The DK Kannada Sports Promoters organized the Five Over Independence Cup Cricket, in which the SP team, the DC team, Bank team, Mayor team, Press team will play against each other.
