Mangaluru, Mar 29, 2026: City police have intensified their probe into the murder of fish merchant and rowdy-sheeter Arif Hussain, who was killed on the Thokkottu flyover along National Highway 66, with special teams deployed to track down the accused.

Police Commissioner Sudhir Reddy has formed multiple teams, including personnel from the CCB, to investigate the case. A complaint filed by the victim’s son at Ullal police station has named a gang led by Mohammed Rifat Ali, an associate of Naufal, as the prime suspects.
During the investigation, police recovered the Innova car used in the crime, abandoned at Budoli in Vittal. Investigators suspect the assailants fled by autorickshaw and later boarded a bus to Bengaluru. Search operations have since been extended to Bengaluru and other locations.
Sources said the accused have switched off their mobile phones, posing a challenge to the investigation despite crucial leads. Police are also examining the role of individuals who may have provided financial or logistical support to the accused.
The probe has been widened to include possible escape routes towards Kerala and Mumbai.
