The swearing-in ceremony is likely to happen tomorrow post lunch. Reportedly, Siddaramaiah will take oath alone.

Also, Congress legislator party meeting will be called tomorrow on Thursday at Kanteerava Stadium around 3.30 pm.

DK Shivakumar, who was another contender in the race to be Karnataka CM, is likely to be offered Deputy CM post with plum portfolios.

Congress leaders DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah were the two top contenders for the CM post. They both met the party’s top leadership in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday held a meeting with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge as the party was set to announce the next Karnataka CM on Tuesday. Surjewala was also present at the meeting.

In the May 10 elections to the 224-member Assembly, the Congress secured a simple majority with 135 seats, while the ruling BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) secured 66 and 19, respectively.

Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar played a significant role in the Congress’s emphatic win in the recently held Assembly election in Karnataka in which the party won 135 of the 224 assembly seats, and ousted the BJP from power.
