Mangaluru, June 17, 2025: MLA Vedavyas Kamath visited and inspected the damage caused by the collapse of a large retaining wall behind Sundari Apartments on the main road in Kadri Shivabhag due to the recent heavy rains in the city, causing severe damage to the flats there.

The hill where the retaining wall was located collapsed due to heavy rains, and two houses in the apartment were damaged in the landslide. Fortunately, there was no loss of life. After the landslide, the trees there are also in a dangerous condition and the authorities have been instructed to remove them immediately. When public property was damaged due to such natural disasters, the previous BJP government used to provide compensation of up to Rs 5 lakh. In addition, many repairs were carried out in the area, including the collapsed retaining walls, with a special grant of Rs 35 crore. But now the state Congress government has cut all that compensation money, so the people here are facing severe problems. The MLAs demanded that the state government at least pay attention to this matter and come to the aid of the victims.

Present on the occasion were former municipal corporation member Kavya Nataraj Alva, BJP leaders Naveen Shenoy, Padmanabha Nayak, Yogish Shenoy, Kiran Rai, office bearers of the apartment, and locals.
