Sexual harassment of 16 year old school girl ; 3 arrested

Mangaluru, Mar 27, 2021: Police have arrested three persons on the charges of sexual harassment of a 14 year old school girl at Gurupur. Those arrested are Mohammad Muneer (28) of Polali, Taswin and Sadiq of Kaikamba.

City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar who provided the above information, said Muneer was the prime accused while the other two abetted him in the crime. He said efforts were on to arrest a few more accused in this case.

The Commissioner said there seems to be a big racket of harassing school going girls in Gurupur-Kaikamba area by some men who lure them into their trap.

In this case Muneer had lured the girl by offering her gifts and then befriended her by securing her phone number. He had also taken her private photos and videos and had threatened to release her photos if she did not co-operate, the Commissioner said.

A complaint was lodged in women’s police station after the parents of the girl came to know about the harassment. The prime accused Muneer was a driver by profession while the other two too have a criminal background.
