Padubidri: Woman alleges triple talaq via mobile, harassment by in-laws

Padubidri, Aug 9, 2025: A case has been registered at Padubidri police station after a woman alleged that her husband, who is working abroad, divorced her through a mobile message, in addition to subjecting her to harassment at his home.

Suhana, a resident of Ermalu Tenka village, was married to Mubeen Sheikh of Ermalu Gujji House in October 2024. Within a month of the marriage, Suhana was allegedly harassed by her husband’s family for dowry. In December 2024, Mubeen went abroad for work. Following this, Suhana claimed she faced mental and physical harassment from her father-in-law Umar Saheb, mother-in-law Abeeda, brother-in-law Mukthar, sister-in-law Rihana, Rashed, and Rihana’s husband Shaheed.

At one point, Suhana’s father had visited her, during which Rashed’s wife Rihana allegedly hit Suhana on her back.

Meanwhile, on July 15, Mubeen Sheikh reportedly sent Suhana a mobile message granting her talaq.

Police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
