Mangaluru, August 10, 2025: In a series of raids across the city, Mangaluru police arrested seven persons on charges of selling ganja to college students, youth, and members of the public. The operations were carried out under different police station limits following credible intelligence, Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H said.
In the first case, police nabbed Abdul Samad alias Chammu in the Khandathpalli area and seized 40 grams of ganja from him. He was booked under the NDPS Act at Mangaluru North Police Station and remanded to judicial custody.
In Kolnadu Lingappayyanakadu, police arrested Dharmalinga for allegedly supplying ganja to students and daily wage workers. About 1.09 kg of ganja was recovered, and a case was registered at Mulki Police Station.
In Bajpe, two men from Bihar — Dolat Kumar Sharma and Mohammad Khushalam — were caught selling ganja in Maravoor. Police seized 1.189 kg of ganja and 219 grams of bhang from their possession.
In the Padil area, Karthik and Mohit were arrested with eight grams of ganja. They were booked at Kankanady Police Station and remanded in custody.
In another incident, Pranav K V, an engineering student from Malappuram, Kerala, was held with 1.1 kg of ganja. He was booked at Mangaluru East Police Station and remanded to judicial custody.
The Commissioner said several buyers linked to the arrested peddlers have been identified, and special teams have been formed to trace them.
