Senior priest of Mangalore Diocese Fr Denis D’Souza Passes Away at 91

Mangaluru, Nov 16, 2025: Fr Denis D’Souza, a senior priest of the Diocese of Mangalore, passed away on Saturday at St Zuze Vaz Home, Jeppu. He was 91.

Born on February 15, 1935, in Thodambila (earlier Modankap), Fr Denis was ordained on December 4, 1961, and went on to serve the diocese with dedication for more than six decades. He began his priestly ministry as assistant parish priest in Shirva and later served as parish priest in several parishes, including Pamdoor, Bondel, Niddodi, Mukamar, Cascia, Surathkal and Sampige.

Fr Denis DSouza Passes Away

Following his retirement in 2010, he lived at the Bishop’s House before moving to St Zuze Vaz Home.

The funeral Mass and burial rites will be held on Monday, November 17, at 10 am at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia.

The Diocese of Mangalore remembered Fr Denis for his simplicity, pastoral zeal and unwavering commitment to priestly service. Condolences have been extended to his brother, Fr Valerian D’Souza, and the bereaved family.
