Russian couple gets married in Lord Ardhanareeshwara Temple

Beltangady, Nov 21, 2011 : A Russian couple Alexiev Jelzin (39) and Polina Korniyenko (31) tied the knot according to Hindu rituals at Ardhanareeshwara Temple in Indabettu, Bangadi, Belthangady. They had come all the way from Russia just to get married the Hindu way.

Anand Bhat, the temple priest, assisted by Sathish conducted the marriage ceremony. Reportedly, Alexiev has been a devotee of Lord Ganesha for the past 15 years. The couple had invited just a few guests for the marriage.

The bride and the groom were dressed in traditional Indian marriage costumes. Satyanarayana Puja, Naga Puja, and Mahapuja were also held on this occasion. A community feast was also arranged.

Jelzin is the proprietor of an animation production house and Polina is the finance manager at Pepsico. They had a registered marriage in Russia on Nov 11 and flew to India to get married according to Hindu traditions. Elena Fedosenko, their friend who had hosted an exhibition on Bharatnatyam in Mangalore, assisted them.

Elena’s friend Deviprasad Rao, the founder of Dev Art Management Private Limited in Goa, is a devotee of Lord Ardhanareeshwara, and he made all the necessary arrangements for the couple to get married in the temple.


Speaking on the occasion, the bridegroom said that he has been a devotee of Lord Ganesha for the past 15 years and wanted to get married according to Hindu traditions.
