Mangalore, Jan 11, 2012: The renovation of Sri Venkataramana Temple on Car Street is completed and ready for the re-consecration. Srimath Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji, supreme head of Sri Kashi Math Samsthan along with his anointed successor Sri Sayamendra Thirtha swamiji has already arrived at the Temple for the Punaprathishta Mahotsava.

The Punarprathishta Mahotsava (re-consecration) of the presiding deity Sri Veera Venkatesha and other Parivara deities will be performed by the Pontiff along with his junior Swamiji on January 16, 2012 at 10.29 am, the auspicious mena lagnam muhurtham. Thereafter, several religious ceremony and cultural events will be held at the temple premises every day till the Annual Car festival starting from January 26 to 31.

Over a lakh of devotees are expected to witness the holy consecration of deities in the sanctum sanctorum of the superbly renovated temple. The renovation project of this graceful temple estimated to have spent around Rs 12 crores. This includes the cost of civil construction, granite carvings, wood work, silver doors and embossing of pillars for the sanctum sanctorum as well as the gudis of other parivara deities, copper roofings, a golden Kalasha  and kumbha on the top of the Sanctum Sanctorum, Golden Throne (Simhaasana) studded with diamonds and  Navaratnas, a Dhwajasthambha with silver covering,  silver Mahadwara etc.  The new sanctum sanctorum will be taller than the old structure and is built using black stone. Even the Goshala, Nagabana and the  Rajangana of the Temple are being developed as part of the renovation. The renovation is done in accordance with the tenets of the Shastras by seeking guidance from the religious heads.

 

The renovated temple is unique in its Architecture and grandeur. Indeed, a masterpiece in its own rights.
