Rare Conch Will Be Displayed in Shiroor Mutt Antique Museum

15 October 2009

A member of the Hyderabad dynasty has donated the rare Balamuri Shankha, a one-and-a-half foot long conch, to Shree Shiroor Mutt Seer Laxmivaratheertha Swamiji. The rare conch will be displayed in the antique museum of the Mutt.

The conch has been exquisitely decorated with silver and precious stones. It bears an attractive design of a cobra in silver. The Shiroor Seer has informed press people that the conch can also be blown.

The Swami also said that the museum will be constructed behind the Mutt on the occasion of Paryaya. The Mutt already has a very good collection of antiques. The Balamuri Shankha, along with the Mutt’s antique collection, will be displayed in the museum.
