Puttur, Sep 26, 2013 : Tension prevailed at Madavu in Keyyur near Puttur on September 25, Wednesday evening when news spread like wild fire that some unidentified men tried to kidnap a married woman and then rape her.


Luckily, the woman managed to escape from the clutches of the assailants and is presently admitted to the Mahaveera Hospital.
As per reports, the woman named Naushiya, wife of Khader from Madavu, who runs a tailoring class at Madavu was returning home when the incident took place. According to her statement, when she was just 100 meters away from home, some men who arrived by a blue Scorpio car waylaid her and forcibly took her to some remote place at Arambur near Sullia where they reportedly made an attempt to outrage her modesty.
It is said Naushiya managed to escape and run towards a home a little distance away from where she called her husband who rushed to the place and rescued her.
A large number of PFI activists gathered in front of the hospital on gathering information about the incident. The police had a tough time in controlling the crowd which demanded arrest of the culprits.
The crowd dispersed only after the police assured to trap the culprits at the earliest.
