Mangaluru, Jan 4, 2025: Bajpe police have registered a suo motu case against unidentified persons for allegedly posting provocative and communally sensitive content on social media in connection with an incident reported from Narlapadavu, under the station’s limits.
Police said that two separate cases were registered on December 27, 2025, following the incident. One case relates to Abdul Sattar, who was allegedly transporting beef illegally on a scooter along with his daughter, while the other pertains to Sumith and M Rajath Naik, who are accused of stopping Sattar and assaulting him.

Subsequently, an Instagram post from an account named muslim__leader allegedly uploaded photographs of two youths with derogatory remarks, communal slurs and inflammatory statements, naming individuals and claiming that an innocent Muslim father and daughter were assaulted at Narlapadavu under the Ganjimath limits.
Police further said that a comment from another Instagram ID, instg4ama, allegedly stating that those concerned should be given “Suhas Shetty treatment soon” was construed as a threat, referring to the manner in which Suhas Shetty was killed.
Taking serious note of the posts and comments, Bajpe police said they were made with the intent to provoke communal disharmony and issue threats of violence. A suo motu case has been registered in Crime No. 07/2026 under Sections 351(2), 351(3), 352, 353(2) and 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
An investigation is underway and efforts are on to trace those responsible, police said. Further legal action will follow after identification of the accused.
