Belthangady, Jun 15, 2026: Entry for trekking to Gadayikallu in Belthangady taluk has been prohibited from June 14.
According to officials from the Wildlife Division of the Forest Department, continuous rainfall has made the trekking route dangerous due to the risk of rocks slipping and landslides. As a precautionary measure, restrictions have been imposed on the entry of trekkers.

The department had permitted trekking to Gadayikallu from June 1, following which hundreds of people visited the destination. A large number of trekkers had also arrived on Sunday.
The renewed restriction has come as a major disappointment to trekking enthusiasts. However, authorities indicated that trekking activities may be allowed to resume once the intensity of the monsoon decreases and conditions become safe again.
