Prohibitory orders clamped in Dakshina Kannada till May 30

Mangaluru, May 28, 2025: Prohibitory orders were clamped in the entire Dakshina Kannada from 6 p.m. on Tuesday to 6 p.m. on Friday to maintain law and order in view of the murder of a youth near Kolattamajalu in Bantwal taluk under Bantwal Rural Police Station limits on Tuesday evening.

If in-charge Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, K. Anandh, on Tuesday, clamped the orders in the Bantwal, Belthangady, Puttur, Kadaba, and Sullia taluks, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal issued the orders for Mangaluru Police Commissionerate covering Mangaluru, Ullal and Moodbidri and Mulky taluks.


Prohibitary


The orders were imposed under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and will be in force under the jurisdiction of the Dakshina Kannada district police.

The order by the Police Commissioner said that there is an uneasy calm under the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate. There are chances of law and order getting disturbed. Hence the order.

Gathering of five or more persons in public places, holding procession, public meetings and functions without police permission during the period is banned. People should not carry any firearms or burst crackers during the period.

The orders stated that people should not engage in any activity that would disturb communal harmony in the district during the period.  

Cultural programmes and already scheduled religious programmes have been exempted from the ban. The orders will not apply to government programmes.
