Preparations on for Alva’s Virasat

Moodbidri, Jan 5 , 2012 : Preparations are on for Alva’s Virasat, the national cultural festival, which is scheduled to be held at Shobhavana.

Arrangements have been made to seat 10,000 people in the main venue while the galleries can accommodate 2000 more people. The main entrance has been decorated with traditional lamps.

It may be recalled that the marriage of Varsha and Vivek Alva, the son of Dr. Mohan Alva, the chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, was held here on Jan 1 Sunday.

 

 

Alva’s Virasat will be inaugurated by Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, the dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala, on Jan 5 Thursday.

Alva’s Virasat, which was first hosted by Mahaveera College two decades back, has now attained international significance, providing a common platform for artistes from home and abroad to showcase their talents. It is the dream of Dr. Mohan Alva to make this a global event.

Another interesting fact about Alva’s Virasat is that it is being solely organized by Alva’s Education Foundation without any financial assistance from the state government. A number of philanthropists, however, have donated generously to this cultural event.
