Mangaluru, May 25, 2023: Pratibha Kulai, the co-ordinator of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and a former corporator, along with others, submitted a memorandum to Dr. Chandra Gupta, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Western Range, on Thursday, May 25. They demanded that strict action be taken against BJP MLA Harish Poonja of Beltangady, for making derogatory comments about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during a public gathering.
Poonja had alleged that Siddaramaiah, in his previous tenure as CM, was responsible for the murder of 24 Hindus.
"The BJP leaders are notorious for instigating controversies and then resolving them. For instance, they created the Urigowda-Nanjegowda issue in the state. They should have a better connection between their thoughts and words," said Pratibha Kulai.
She added that the IGP had assured them of appropriate action by the police department. "No one should escape the law. Therefore, we hope to receive justice soon," she concluded.
