Mangaluru, Oct 6, 2026: K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), a constituent college of Nitte (Deemed to be University), will organise #MoveForHope 2026, a breast cancer awareness walkathon and run in Mangaluru on October 10.
The event will be held from 6 am to 7.30 am, starting from the Nitte Day Care Clinic at Pumpwell. Participants will proceed towards Balmatta before returning to the starting point.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage timely screening and promote conversations on prevention and early detection. The event is open to walkers and runners, with students, professionals, families and community groups encouraged to participate.
Participants have been requested to wear light pink T-shirts as a symbol of solidarity. In keeping with the event’s sustainability focus, participants are also encouraged to carry their own water bottles, with refill facilities available along the route. Single-use water bottles and event T-shirts will not be distributed.
Poster and reel competitions will also be held as part of #MoveForHope 2026, giving participants an opportunity to contribute creatively to the awareness campaign. E-certificates will be provided to participants.
The initiative is supported by several professional, social and community organisations from Mangaluru and beyond.
KSHEMA and Nitte (Deemed to be University) have invited the people of Mangaluru to participate in the walkathon and help spread awareness about breast cancer.
