Police nab bike thieves, seize 5 stolen bikes

Mangalore, Jun 7, 2011: The police have arrested two persons for stealing vehicles and have confiscated five two-wheelers from them.

Three of the seized vehicles were stolen in the jurisdiction of the Ullal Police Station and the other two were stolen in Kasargod, said Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh at a press conference held in his office today. The total value of the seized vehicles is Rs. 1 lakh, he added.

Shyamsunder H. M., the sub inspector of the Ullal Police Station (crime branch) was routinely inspecting vehicles near Someshwar Temple on June 6, Sunday, when he got suspicious about a bike with registration number KA-19 Q-8893. When he investigated the case, he discovered that it was a stolen bike and arrested the rider.

When the rider was interrogated, he said that he is Abdul Munnan alias Munaf (20) of Ullal and revealed that name of his accomplice Ahmed Rameez, also from Ullal. Rameez stands guilty of stealing a bike with registration number KL 14 – G -1960 near Ambika Road on May 8. The police confiscated this bike too. Two of the confiscated bikes did not bear any registration plates.
