Mangaluru, March 29, 2026: The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Sunday said that LPG carrier BW ELM, carrying part of a combined cargo of about 94,000 tonnes, is en route to New Mangalore Port and is expected to arrive on April 1.

In a statement, the ministry said two LPG carriers, BW TYR and BW ELM, have safely transited the West Asian region and are moving towards Indian shores. While BW TYR is headed to Mumbai with an expected arrival on March 31, BW ELM is bound for Mangaluru.

The vessels are among the latest Indian-flagged carriers to pass through the strategic chokepoint. According to LSEG ship tracking data, four tankers have already completed the crossing, while three others remain in the western section of the strait.

The development comes amid disruptions to global shipping due to the ongoing US and Israeli conflict with Iran. However, Tehran has permitted passage of “non-hostile vessels” subject to coordination with its authorities.
