Police destroy narcotics worth over Rs 15 lakh seized from Udupi district

Udupi, Oct 10, 2025: Padubidre police on October 9 destroyed various narcotic substances, including ganja and MDMA, seized from multiple police stations across Udupi district, in the presence of senior officials at M/s Ayush Envirotech Pvt. Ltd., Padubidre.

The destroyed substances included approximately 9.937 kg of ganja worth ₹7,12,963, 345.596 grams of MDMA valued at ₹8,08,464, and 61.430 grams of white powder of no commercial value. The total estimated value of all destroyed narcotics amounts to ₹15,21,427.

The narcotics were seized in 10 cases: three from Udupi City Police, two from Sankar Police Station, and one each from Malpe, Padubidre, Shirva, Karkala City, and Manipal police stations. The destruction was carried out as per court orders.

The cases span from 2021 (1 case), 2024 (3 cases), and 2025 (6 cases). In the 2021 Padubidre case, accused Abdul Rahiman was fined ₹8,000 by the court. The 2025 Manipal case is still under investigation, while the remaining cases are pending court proceedings.

The destruction operation was attended by District Police Superintendent and District Drug Disposal Committee Chairman Hariram Shankar, committee member and Assistant Superintendent of Police Dr. Harsha Priyamvada, Udupi Sub-Division Police Deputy Superintendent Prabhu D.T., and officials of M/s Ayush Envirotech, Padubidre.
