Karkala: Student succumbs to injuries after bike-car collision

Karkala, Apr 29, 2026: A student who was seriously injured in a bike-car collision near a private college in Karkala has succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Prerana, who was travelling as a pillion rider on the motorcycle ridden by her father, Naveen Chandra Moolya.

Student succumbs to injuries

The accident had taken place on April 24 when the father-daughter duo was returning home after visiting the college for an examination. Their bike was reportedly hit by a car carrying students of the same college near a petrol bunk on the Karkala-Nitte road.

The car, allegedly coming at high speed from Karkala towards Nitte, collided with the bike, causing severe injuries to both. Naveen Chandra Moolya died on the spot, while Prerana was admitted to hospital with critical injuries. She later succumbed despite medical treatment.

A case has been registered at the Karkala police station, and further investigation is underway.
