Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh informed press people that nabbing law breakers and restoring stolen property to its rightful owners is the duty of the police, adding that the purpose of this exhibition is to strengthen the trust placed by the people in the police department. The police also intend to encourage personnel who work hard to catch culprits and retrieve stolen property, he said.

The police department issued a press release, which stated that the police have confiscated property worth Rs 9080400 from January to March this year. Property worth Rs 6838000 has already been restored to its rightful owners. About 70 percent of the seized property has been returned to the owners and the remaining will be returned once the court permits.

The police department has requested members of the public to take the required precautions against thefts and burglaries by installing strong doors and grills. Alertness is of prime importance while dealing with strangers. People should refrain from storing valuables inside the house. The police also requested people to keep them informed about suspicious elements and appear as witnesses in the court whenever required.
