Mangalore, Oct 6, 2011: : A city police team, under the guidance of Mangalore police commissioner, arrested two people in connection with the murder of cab driver Govardhan.
Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh told reporters at a press conference held in his office on Oct 6 Thursday that four people had hired an Indica cab driven by Govardhan (32) at Bejai Car Park to go to Karkal. Reportedly, they murdered him and discarded his body by the road and abandoned the car near the games of Suzlon in Padubidri.
The arrested are Mahanthesh Honnappa Annigeri (26) of Jalligudde and Somashekar (29) of Vamanjoor.
The commissioner said that the murderers were tipper drivers who killed the driver for money, adding that the investigating team did an excellent job although it was delayed for certain unavoidable reasons.
