Bhatkal: Sub-inspector arrested on charges of raping minor girl

Bhatkal, Jul 6, 2026: The Bhatkal police have arrested a police sub-inspector attached to Manki police station on charges of secually assaulting a minor girl, late Saturday night.

The accused officer, Abhinandan Gowda, has been booked under the POCSO Act.


Rape case

Abhinandan, a native of Bengaluru South district, was posted as SI to Manki police station in Honnavar taluk four months back.

He was deployed for bandobast duty in Bhatkal town.

The Bhatkal Town police had received a complaint alleging that the sub-inspector in question had summoned a girl from a rural area to Bhatkal and sexually assaulted. Following the complaint, the SI has been arrested under POCSO Act, the police sources said.
