Bantwal: PUC student allegedly stabbed while waiting for bus; love angle suspected

Mangaluru, Jul 6, 2026: A Pre-University (PUC) student was allegedly attacked with a knife by a youth while she was waiting for a bus to attend college in Ira village of Bantwal taluk, Dakshina Kannada district.

The accused, identified as Javvar (28), a local trader, allegedly assaulted the student without warning and fled the scene. Preliminary investigation suggests that the attack may have been triggered by a love-related issue.

The student sustained an injury to her hand and suffered heavy bleeding. Local residents rushed her to a nearby hospital for treatment. Bloodstains were seen at the bus stop following the attack.

Both the injured student and the accused are residents of Montimar Padpu in Bantwal.

Police from the Bantwal Rural Police Station visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused.
