Mangalore, Sep 27, 2011: The Vice President of Hotel Ocean Pearl Mr. Nagarajan Udupa said that Navarathri puts the people of Mangalore in a festive mood, owing to which Ocean Pearl’s Sagar Ratna will offer the special Navarathri Thali for 9 days starting from September 28 Wednesday.

 

 

 

Speaking about Navarathi, he said that it is a 9-day festival preceding Vijayadashami and that people eat only Satvik food during these 9 days. Food is prepared using special vegetables and ingredients and North Indians take only milk and fruits all day or potato curries with puris while South Indians take Kuttu. Sabudana is also a popular ingredient during the Vrit. These dietary restrictions have led to sumptuous Navarathri special meal ideas, which Sagar Ratna will present before the people.

He said that the Navarathri Thali is a combination of 12 mouth watering dishes prepared with care and tastefully presented. Some of the delightful items are Ghee Mung Dal, Mewa Aloo Ki Sabzi, Sitafal Ki Sabzi, Vrat Aloo, Suke Arbi, Nauratan Koorma, Kele Ki Kofta, Sabudana Kichidi, Urad Dal Laddu, Kuttu ki Puri, Sabudana Kheer, Fruit Lassi, and Fruit Salad. Each thali costs Rs. 130 only, he added.
