Udupi, Jan 6, 2012 : T. S. Ambuja, a popular Kannada writer of humorous articles, died in a hospital in Bangalore at the age of 56, on Jan 5 Thursday.


ambuja 1Daughter of renowned Yakshagana artiste Malpe Ramadas Samaga, Ambuja has left behind her husband, two children, and her mother.

She had gone to Bangalore on Dec 28 to visit her children, but on Wednesday night she had a low BP attack and had to be rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, she did not respond to treatment.

Ambuja has to her credit Rangada Rangoli, a collection of humor Yakshagana episodes by Shankaranarayana Samaga, the Yakshagana artiste, and Samagayana, the biography of Ramadas Samaga, the elder brother of Shankaranarayana Samaga.

She has also published Hway Matten Vishesha?, Hello Aunty Hi Uncle, and Naguvina Siri, all collection of humorous articles written by her. She has also published Mareta Manikya – Sankrita Nyayagalu, which is a collection of notes on Sanskrit maxims.

Ambuja has won a number of awards, including the Attimabbe Award. She had also served as the general secretary of the Udupi District Women Writers Association and as the member of Suhasam.
