Ninth cruise vessel with 665 passengers calls at NMP

Mangalore, Dec 27, 2011: A cruise vessel called M. V. Seven Seas Voyage with 665 passengers and 449 crew members on board called at New Mangalore Port (NMP) today, the ninth such vessel to call at the port in the fiscal year 2011 – 12. The vessel, which arrived from Goa, set sail for Cochin later this evening.

Most of the passengers hailed from the US and the US and 500 of them chose to go on a ground tour arranged by Mumbai Lia Travels and M/s Ventour International. They visited places of interest such as the cashew processing unit in Baikampady, the statue of Gomateshwara in Karkala, the 1000 Pillar Jain Temple in Moodubidri, the Gokarnatheshwar Temple in Kudroli, St. Aloysius Chaple, an ancient house in Balmatta, after which they shopped in Mangalore. 


Dr. P. Tamilvanan said that the next cruise ship will call at the port on Dec 31, 2011 and two more are expected to call at the port during the first week of Jan 2012. He also said that a large fertilizer vessel carrying 50,000 tons of DAP imported from the US by MCF was handled by M/s Aspinwal and Co. and will be distributed among the farmers. 


Meanwhile, MV Father Neptune called at the port on Dec 25 and is currently being unloaded.
