Mangalore, Sep 26, 2013 : Naxal suspect Saroja (26) of Horale near Shringeri who was lodged in the Mangalore jail on the charges of being involved in Naxal activities, was released from the prison on September 25 after the Udupi District And Sessions Court absolved her of the charges in the last case against her.



She was set free at 7.30 pm in the evening. The court acquitted her on the grounds that the petitioners as well as the eyewitnesses failed to identify her and also to prove charges against her.
M Shantharam Shetty was the counsel for the accused. Saroja left to her native place with her husband Suresh Naik and brother Uday.
Saroja was arrested in the year 2008 in connection with the case of barging into the residence of Sadananda alias Kutti Shetty of Mutlupady in Ajekar of Karkala taluk on February 27, 2006. She was also charged with pasting posters and then threatening the family members and setting ablaze a bike.
A total of 22 cases had been registered against Saroja in various police station limits on charges of Naxal activities.She has been acquitted in 20 cases and was punished in two cases She has undergone two years imprisonment in Buklebailu Chandrakanth murder attempt case and three and half years imprisonment in Barkana encounter case.
Speaking after her release Saroja said she was pleased on coming out of prison and claimed that she had not committed any mistake. She also said she will continue to fight against injustice.
