Karkala, Oct 6, 2011 : A young mother and her toddler died after falling in an open well in Ajekaru.

The deceased are Asha (24) of Kaikamba Janatha Colony and her 1-year-old son Puneeth. Reportedly, the mother was washing clothes near the well and did not notice her child straying closer to the well. When she heard him fall into the well, she jumped in herself in order to save him. Unfortunately, both died of drowning.

The Ajekaru police have registered a case.

Asha was the wife of Krishnaiah.
