Mangalore, Dec 11, 2012: The mortal remains of Indian Archbishop and Papal Envoy to Ivory Coast Fr.Ambrose Madtha who died in a road accident in Abidjan of Ivory Coast on December 8, Saturday, is expected to be brought to Belthangady, his home town.

The death of the Archbishop Fr. Madtha(57) has left the clergy and the laity in Dakshina Kannada in deep grief.
Fr James D’Souza of Holy Redeemer Church has said that they were all waiting for the arrival of the mortal remains of the Archbishop.
He also recollected the visit of Archbishop Madtha to Belthangady in May this year for the inauguration of the church. He said the Archbishop had then donated a church bell worth Rs 15 lakh which was imported from Italy. A civic reception had also been conferred on him in the year 2008, Fr James recalled.
Fr.Ambrose Madtha who had his early schooling in Belthangady, was also an alumnus of St Aloysius High School in Mangalore. He had obtained a Masters in Economics from Nagpur University. He became the Papal Envoy in 1990 and had served several nations including Africa, Argentina, El Salvadore, South America, Taiwan and Albania.
