Manjeshwar MLA gets 3 months jail in case of assaulting Deputy Tahsildar

Kasargod, July 3, 2025: Manjeshwar MLA A.K.M. Ashraf and two others have been sentenced to three months of imprisonment by the Kasargod court in a 15 year old case pertaining to intercepting and assaulting the then Deputy Tahsildar of Manjeshwar.
Apart from Ashraf, IUM workers Basheer Abdulla and Kayinhi alias Abdul Khader have been convicted. The court has also slapped a penalty of Rs 20,000 on them. They will have to undergo an additional one month of imprisonment if they fail to pay the penalty amount.
Ashraf was an IUML worker when the incident took place. He has said he would appeal to the High Court against the Kasargod court verdict.
