Mangaluru: 29 police officers, 118 personnel honoured for exemplary service

Mangaluru, Jul 21, 2026: The Mangaluru City Police Commissioner on Monday honoured 29 police officers with commendation letters and 118 police personnel with commendation letters and cash rewards in recognition of their outstanding performance over the past six months.

The personnel were recognised for their exceptional work in crime detection, cybercrime prevention, narcotics control, and maintaining law and order within the commissionerate limits.

During the period, city police solved 24 long-pending cases by arresting the accused and tracing several absconders against whom non-bailable warrants had been issued. In 2026, police cracked 88 property theft cases, arrested the accused, and recovered stolen valuables worth approximately Rs 1.2 crore.

The department also intensified its crackdown on drug-related offences, registering 84 cases against drug peddlers and arresting 142 accused. In addition, 346 cases were registered against drug users, leading to the detention of 443 individuals. Information gathered from the arrested users has helped police identify and act against drug trafficking networks.

Police personnel who made significant contributions to tackling cybercrime were also felicitated. The commissioner noted that continuous public awareness campaigns had helped reduce cyber fraud cases in the city this year. Officers who acted swiftly through the 1930 cybercrime helpline to freeze fraudulent transactions and recover victims’ money were specially recognised.

The cybercrime team was also commended for exposing a major investment fraud network operating from Nepal and assisting in tracing cybercriminals across several states.

Personnel involved in monitoring social media and taking action against the spread of hate speech, misinformation, and provocative content were honoured for helping maintain communal harmony. Investigating officers, support staff, and court personnel who contributed to securing convictions in major criminal cases were also recognised.

Officers and staff of the wireless division and the 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) were felicitated for their prompt response to public grievances, efficient handling of major security deployments, and maintaining law and order in the city.
