Mangalore, Sep 27, 2013: A police team led by Panambur ACP Ravikumar has been successful in arresting three cattle thieves who were wanted in connection with the theft of four jersey cows from the Kajila farm in Tenkulipadi village of Ganjimutt village.
The arrests were made near Kulur on September 26, Thursday morning. Even a Scorpio vehicle used by the accused have been seized.
Those arrested are Abdul Kabir(26), Kebir alias Kabeer (28) and OK Wahab (28). They had stolen the four cows valued at Rs one lakh from the farm owned by SKS Builders owner Sanath Kumar Shetty on May 26 last year. Police have also seized rope and broken locks from the accused. It is learnt, of the three, OK Wahab had butchered the cows for meat and sold it at Kasba Bengre.
Police are on the lookout for three more accused who are hailing from Adyapady, Jokatte and Kasargod area. The accused, it is learnt were into cattle thefts since four years and had stolen cattle from Moodbidri, Bajpe, Karkala, Moodigere, Hassan, and other places. They have revealed that there were around ten to 15 teams of cattle thieves, each having five to six members and that these teams were operating in different districts.
The accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
