Akshatha had gone missing five days ago. The girl who had left home saying she had to attend special classes in her college, had never returned. Her family had lodged a case of missing at Mangalore Rural Police Station.

The family members identified the body found on the river banks as that of Akshatha. After a post mortem the body was handed over to the family.

Meanwhile, sources said Akshatha was in love with a college mate named Madan and that the college authorities had warned them on a couple of occasions.  It is also learnt that  Madan too has gone missing and his mobile phone is switched off.

Investigations are underway.
