Mangalore: Kargil Vijay Diwas observed

Mangalore, July 26, 2013: Dakshina Kannada Ex-Servicemen’s Association and the District Lions Club observed  Kargil Vijay Divas at Lions Seva Mandir on July 26, Friday.

Disha Amrith, 3rd BE Student of BMS Engineering College, Bangalore inaugurated the event and said that she was always fascinated by the courage and public service rendered by the ex-Servicemen. She said she considered ex-servicemen as  role models who inspire the present generation to serve the society in a better way.

 

 

Ln K C Prabhu, Lions District Governor, Lions International District 317 D presided over the event.

Four retd servicemen Purushotham Acharya, Alexander D’Silva, Novel Lobo and Cyril D’Souza were felicitated for their service.

Organizers S Nandagopal, Rajesh Kamath, Bhaskar Pai and others were present.

District unit of ABVP also observed Kargil Vijay Divas at Kadri War Memorial.

Commander Mascarenhas said that many soldiers  have sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation and that it was the duty of the society to remember their services and pay tributes to them.

 ABVP State Secretary B Ramesh also spoke on the occasion.
