Mangalore Diocese launches housing project for poor

Mangalore, July 24: Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, blessed the foundation stone of the first of the 160 houses that are being constructed by the Mangalore Diocese for the poor, at Batrakodi in Kelrai today.

The construction of these houses is just one of the several projects undertaken by the diocese on the occasion of its post centenary silver jubilee.

The beneficiary is Diana D’Souza, who lost her husband a couple months back, and her two children Joyston (3) and Joshwa (7). The diocese is collaborating with St. Anne Church in Kelrai to construct the house for Diana.

Vicar General Msgr Denis Moras, Parish Priest Fr. John Vas, CODP Director Fr. Onil D’Souza, Jubilee Committee Secretary Sushil Noronha, and William D’Souza, one of the partners of Souza Group, who is the first sponsor for the housing project, were also present.

The bishop has urged people to donate generously toward the housing project.
