Man from Kerala who killed grandparents arrested while selling gold in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, July 25, 2023: The city police apprehended a 27-year-old man from Kerala, Ahmed Akmal (26), on July 24 for attempting to sell gold at Car Street. Ahmed Akmal, hailing from Thrissur district in Kerala and the son of Abdul Razak, was taken into custody by ASI Damodar and his team after they received a report of a suspicious individual trying to sell gold ornaments around 11:00 am that day.

During the investigation, Ahmed Akmal confessed to the shocking crime of murdering his grandparents, Abdulla (75) and Jameela (64), on July 23. He had come to Mangaluru with stolen gold ornaments from his grandparents’ residence to sell them.

The police managed to recover several items, including a Gold Pearl chain, a chain with a small pendant, three pairs of earrings, five finger rings, two bangles, a passport, and various other documents.
